Gender, Sexuality & Culture
Gender, Sexuality & Culture was established at ANU in 2001 as an innovative interdisciplinary program. As well as having its own dedicated staff it draws on the teaching and research expertise of scholars from across the university.
Its combination of gender and cultural studies provides a unique perspective on contemporary social and cultural life.
Our research and teaching areas include:
- Popular Culture and Cultural Theory
- Asian Cultural Studies and Film Studies
- Food, Race and Multiculturalism
- Trauma Studies
- Literary Studies (including testimony and life-writing)
- Feminist Theory
- Sexuality
- Health, Illness and Embodiment
- Gender and Development
The program members are active researchers who publish widely and have strong international reputations. They have won awards and grants for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and are committed to student-centred and research-led education.
The ANU is an exciting place to study Gender, Sexuality & Culture because of its research strengths and its fostering of collaboration through the ANU Gender Institute.
